Flavoring Homemade Tofu
One of the best parts about homemade tofu is its customizability. Once you’ve made fresh soy milk, you have the opportunity to add spices that will ultimately flavor your block of tofu from the inside out! Check out some of our recipes below, and be sure to tag us in any of your creations on social media.
See our recipe on how to make homemade tofu here. You’ll need it for these flavor combinations below!
Instructions
Bring your fresh soy milk to a boil.
Ladle out ~1/2 cup of fresh soy milk into a separate small bowl.
Add all spices to the small bowl and whisk thoroughly to combine.
Once clumps are removed, add the spiced soy milk back to the main pot and stir to combine.
Resume the tofu-making process as normal. See the recipe here.
Helpful Tips
Avoid using acids (lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, etc.) — this causes premature coagulation of your tofu.
Avoid nutritional yeast, which inhibits proper coagulation.
